Upcoming TMNT Movie To Have New Director and Villains

Paramount PicturesTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is set to release on June 3 in IMAX 3D and will be directed by David Green, lifelong fan of the material who plans to treat it with respect. The film is still bringing back some stars from the original (Megan Fox, Will Arnett) and has Michael Bay producing.

According to Screen Rant, however, new villains are set to add excitement to the franchise. Bebop will be played by Gary Anthony Williams and Rocksteady by WWE superstar Sheamus. Other references to the 80s cartoons include Krang’s technodrome tank and the turtle van. The sequel to 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will star Jeremy Howard (Galaxy Quest) as Donatello, Johnny Knoxville (The Ringer) as Leonardo, Noel Fisher (TV’s Shameless) as Michelangelo, Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) as Raphael, Brian Tee (The Wolverine) as Shredder and Tyler Perry (Gone Girl) as Dr. Baxter Stockman.

In an interview with MTV News, Megan Fox said about Green,

They hired a director who’s a super fan of the turtles, they figured out the tone of the film should be funny. This isn’t turtles in Gotham City, that’s the wrong way to take it.

WWE’s CM Punk was quoted by The Chicago Tribune as saying that the audience is sure to see Bebop and Rocksteady in their mutated avatars. Karai, played by Brittany Ishibashi (Eagle Eye), is also set to make an appearance, as well as Stephen Amell (TV’s Arrow) as Casey Jones, supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, and Laura Linney (Love Actually).
