Blumhouse is remaking the 1984 movie Firestarter, an adaptation of the 1980 Stephen King horror novel of the same name. The movie’s producer Jason Blum released some footage of the new movie’s production on his Twitter account. The footage shows a stunt performer walking on set while on fire. The stunt person is of course wearing a safe fire proof suit. From the looks of it this movie will have plenty of beautiful fire scenes.
The plot of the original Firestarter book follows a family with psychic abilities. The father Andy the is a telepath, the mother Vicky has telekinesis, and their daughter Charlene who is nicknamed Charlie has pyrokinesis. Unfortunately government agents kill Vicky and try to abduct Charlie, which forces her and her father to go on the run. In the original 1984 movie Vicky was played by Heather Locklear, Andy was played by David Keith, and Charlie was played by a young Drew Barrymore. The movie also starred Micheal Sheen, George C. Scott, and Art Carney.
According to Comic Book Resources this remake is going to be directed by Keith Thomas, and Zac Efron will be starring in the movie along side Greyeyes. Apparently this new remake is going to try and follow the plot of the original book more closely than the 1984 movie. As of right now the remake does not have an official release date.
