Upcoming Historical Drama ‘People Of The Book’ Adds Gael Garcia Bernal and More

Gael García Bernal, Nazanin Boniadi, and Jason Isaacs are set to star in the upcoming Good Films Collective‘s historical drama People Of The Book

This feature film is based on The New York Times 2008 bestseller of the same name from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks. The project will be helmed by Academy Award winner Danis Tanovic, whose previous work includes No Man’s Land, and written by Petter Skavlan of Kon Tiki.

People of the Book centers around a book conservator’s attempt to restore the Sarajevo Haggadah, an illuminated manuscript that contains the illustrated traditional text used at Passover Seders. The film will also tell the touching history behind the document’s creation in Barcelona in 1350, as well as the journey taken by various people across different cultures and religions who risked their lives to save it.

García Bernal is best known for his performances in Y Tu Mamá También alongside Diego Luna, Pixar’s Coco, and Amazon Studios’ TV series Mozart in the Jungle. Boniadi is known for her leading role in the 2018 drama Hotel Mumbai alongside Dev Patel and Armie Hammer. Jason Isaacs’ credits extend, but is not limited to, The Patriot and playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films .
