Upcoming Documentary ‘Transition’ Directed By Jordan Bryon

What do you get when you assemble a group of multi-talented, award-nominated artists to craft a thought-provoking documentary on critical political and social matters? You get ‘Transition’

This documentary follows a trans man, Jordan Bryon, as he embeds with a Taliban unit during their retaking of control in Afghanistan. Although given this stressful assignment, nothing gets in the way of an Emmy-nominated director who has lived and worked in Afghanistan.

The documentary has its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. ‘Transition’ directed by Jordan Bryon and Monica Villamizar, balances the excitement of this journey with a more serious tone about Bryson’s responsibility. Throughout the film, he worries about the safety of his colleagues. The primary subjects of the documentary include Jordan Bryson, Afghan cinematographer Farzad Fetrat, and Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Kiana Hayeri.

This documentary is both insightful and exciting- and not just for the ‘plot’ so to speak but for the film industry. Afghanistan is a region of geopolitical issues and cultural diversity. Unfortunately, it can often be misunderstood or misrepresented in the media. Bryson, a trans man, might influence the way he portrays people and issues in film. This documentary can truly bring a whole new dimension to the narrative.
