Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Soars Past $100 Million

Amidst a time when actors cannot promote new films, the latest cinematic creation from Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon, has reached a new milestone for Scorsese. Released in late October, Killers has garnered a worldwide box office figure of $102.1 million.

Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone, Scorsese’s new film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Based on a true story, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ portrays a romance between Mollie Kyle (Gladstone) and Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio). The film goes into mysterious and sinister killings of the Osaf Nation members, whose sudden wealth materialized overnight with the discovery of oil beneath their land.

According to reliable reports from Deadline, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ has dominated the international market, with the United Kingdom leading the pack with $8 million in earnings, closely followed by France with $7 million, Germany at $4.5 million, Italy (handled by Leone) at $4.1 million, Spain at 3.5 million, Australia generating $3 million, Netherlands amassing $1.8 million, and both Mexico and Brazil contributing $1.8 million and 1.5 million, respectively. The movie has gained a lot of attention overseas; however, there were 36% fewer people watching it again in different countries during the second week.

As it goes into its third week in theaters, the big action-packed western has made $102.1 million worldwide. This includes $45.3 million in the United States and $56.8 million in other countries.

If Killers of the Flower Moon garners awards and heightened critical acclaim, there is potential for an expedited release on a streaming platform.
