A new follow up for The Boondock Saints is officially in the works. The new installment comes in the wake of The Boondock Saints and its follow up, All Saints Day.
The new film will bring back Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery from the first two films, who play MacManus brothers, a duo bent on cleaning the criminal activity out of their town.
As of now, there is no director attached to the film. Troy Duffy, director of the first two movies, has opted to not return as director, but will still tell stories relating to the characters in novel format.
The production company responsible for the John Wick series, Thunder Road, is set to work on the film. Deadline reports that they’re joining the company that holds the rights for the series, Dragonfly Films.
“I’m thrilled to be working alongside Basil Iwanyk’s Thunder Road Films and Todd Myers’ Dragonfly Films to bring more of the story of the Boondock Saints to audiences,” star Norman Reedus said. “I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have long been working toward. We are pressing on without our longtime friend and Captain, Troy Duffy on this one. He has decided to write a Boondock Saints book series and I can’t wait to read it.”
Reedus is most well known for his role as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. He also headlined his own spinoff show recently, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, following the character as he searches for the whereabouts of his lost friend.
Sean Patrick Flannery appeared in last year’s Nefarious, and also had a role in Saw 3D. He also portrayed a teenage version of archeologist Indiana Jones in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
