Universal Pictures announced Friday of the fourth installment to Despicable Me franchises. The whole despicable family is returning with its recurring cast, Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan will return to the family-friendly comedy series which revolves around a former villain who is now happily married with his three adoptive daughters. Chris Renaud, who directed the original Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, will be returning to direct the fourth chapter in the franchises.
Before Despicable Me 4 gets released to theaters on July 3, 2024. Gru, the supervillain mastermind, will be featured in this summer’s spinoff Minions: The Rise of Gru is set after the first Minions film where the Minions chased their 12-year-old boss Gru. The young 12-year-old Gru begins his dream to become the greatest supervillain in the world. Gru stole from the Vicious 6 a precious stone, which Otto traded for a pet rock, and now Gru is on the run; Gru and the Minions must face Vicious 6 this summer.
Universal delayed the film for two years due to the pandemic. But young Gru will soon be in theaters on July 1, 2022.
