According to Variety, a release date of September 2, 2016 has been set for the mystery thriller Solace starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (Noah) and Colin Farrell (Winter’s Tale).
Relativity Media, backer of the film, had originally scheduled a late 2015 release, but things were put on hold as the company went under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh this week announced the acquisition of Trigger Street Productions, owned by two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey (Netfilx’s House of Cards) and Dana Brunetti. Spacey has been appointed chairman and Brunetti president of Relativity Studios, and together they will manage feature films and scripted television for the film unit.
Directed by Afonso Poyart (Dos Coelhos) from a script by Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin, Solace centers on a psychic (Hopkins) who works with the FBI to track down a serial killer (Farrell). This is familiar territory for Hopkins who, in his critically acclaimed role as Hannibal Lechter in 1991’s Silence of the Lambs, also helped the FBI catch a serial killer. The serial killer in the new feature film also has powers of clairvoyance. Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Heist) and Abbie Cornish (RoboCop) are also in the ensemble cast.
Producers are Beau Flynn, Thomas Augsberger, Tripp Vinson, Matthias Emcke, and Claudia Bluemhuber.
