Tyrese Gibson is set to star in and produce the crime thriller The Inside Game, according to Hollywood Reporter. The mainstay from the Fast & Furious co-wrote the script and is partnering his Voltron Pictures Studios with WonderFilm Media, the banner behind 1974’s Amityville, to produce the film. The two companies announced their partnership on Tuesday.
The Inside Game is set to start shooting in November, wit Gibson acting as a triple threat writing the script alongside Ryan Jackson (Blood List). Producing the film with Gibson are WonderFilm’s co-founders Jess Bowler and Bret Saxon, with Dan Grodink serving as executive producer. Bowler has described Inside Game as “a grounded, non-stop thrill ride of a film.”
In a statement Gibson said, “I am beyond grateful that WonderFilm has decided to take this journey with me as my producing partner,” Gibson also stated that, “being able to follow Fast & Furious 9 and Morbius with this project is going to make for a great 2020!” WonderFilm’s U.K. company headquarters, WonderFilm Global, run by CEO Andy Lyon, will fully finance The Inside Game. Gibson will also star alongside Naomi Harris in Black & Blue, a crime thriller produced by Screen Gems that opens Oct. 25th, as well as Morbius, Sony’s Spider-Man universe follow-up to Venom, which opens July 2020.
