To any Twilight megafan still anticipating the release of the extended cut of Breaking Dawn Part II, you now have your heartbreaking answer. Director Bill Condon delivered the news at the Sundance Film Festival 2025 while promoting his latest film, Kiss Of The Spider Woman. Steve Weintraub asked Condon if there would be any interest in combining both of the extended cuts for each part into one feature film. Condon did confirm that there was a longer cut of Part I as well as Part II, but the latter needing serious revisions. Condon jokingly remarked that “it would take a lot of money to create Renesemee at the level that we did before.” Continuing to state, “The actual combining them into one movie, I think, has never been of too much interest to the studio.’
Weintraub explaining, “There is a cut of Part II that you could do that’s longer; it just needs money?” With Condon’s affirmation, Weintraub inquired about how much longer the extended cut would end up being, the director’s rough estimate being, “like 10 minutes.” The reason behind all of these revisions is the VFX. Condon stated, “That is a big VFX movie, so anything you add,” even going so far as to mention one of the battle sequences that takes place in the final installment. Weintraub suggested that the die-hard fanbase’s everlasting passion would, without a doubt, come up with the money to fulfill the goal. Condon’s producing partner, Greg Yolen, comically deflected the statement by saying, “Take that up with Summit Entertainment.” Summit Entertainment is the production company responsible for the Twilight films.
