True Lies stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis reunited over 30 years after the action comedy’s release at an upfront presentation for Amazon, MovieWeb reports.
Written and directed by James Cameron in 1994, and adapted from the French comedy La Totale!, the film follows Harry Tasker, a James Bond-esque super spy for a secret government agency, who portrays himself as a computer hardware salesman to his wife, Helen, who dreams of having a more exciting life. Harry starts to suspect Helen is having an affair, and the pair are kidnapped by terrorists. They must then work together to save the world and their marriage.
Released to positive reception with a 70% Critical Score and a 76% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, True Lies would gross over $300 million worldwide.
Now, while presenting a preview of his new Christmas project, The Man With The Bag, as part of Amazon MGM Studios’s upcoming slate, Schwarzenegger was joined onstage by Curtis, who referenced their spy actioner collaboration, saying:
Thirty years ago, we were together…And now here we are, talking ad strategy. We don’t need to go undercover to save the day…We just need to remind these hardworking people about the benefits of Amazon’s full-funnel advertising strategy.
Along with Schwarzenegger and Curtis, True Lies stars Tom Arnold, Tia Carrere, Bill Paxton, Eliza Dushku, Art Malik, Grant Heslov, and Charlton Heston.
