Troian Bellisario to Star with Cate Blanchett in ‘Where’d You Go, Bernadette’

Pretty Little Liars actress Troian Bellisario is keeping busy now that her iconic television show has concluded. She is set to become part of the cast of Richard Linklater’s Where’d You Go, Bernadette along with star and Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett (Carol). The titular character, Bernadette, will be played by Blanchett. The current cast, fans will be excited to know, is shaping up nicely! It includes many well-known actors such as Judy Greer (Jurassic World), Laurence Fishburne (Hannibal), and and Kristen Wiig (The Martian).

The movie will be based on a well-received 2012 book by author Maria Semple. Told through creative devices like letters, emails, and transcripts of tape recordings, the film synthesizes conventional narrative tradition with different story-telling mediums, heightening the near-overwhelming senses of disarray, confusion, and mystery.

While this is one of the virtues of the novel, the film will not be able to exactly replicate these strategies. This may prove to be a strength, depending on how the filmmakers decide to handle it, as it will allow them an opportunity to distinguish themselves from the innovative storytelling present in the source material.

Oscar-nominee Richard Linklater (Boyhood) will direct the film, which has been discussed for distribution since 2013. Currently, the plan is to release the film across theaters in 2018. Until then, fans will have to content themselves by rereading the book.
