This year’s Tribeca Film Festival is set to reunite the casts of Fargo, Raging Bull, The Five Heartbeats and The Royal Tenenbaums. The largely outdoor festival will take place from June 9 to June 20, nearly 20 years after the festival was founded following 9/11.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of Fargo, the Tribeca Film Festival will bring on director Joel Coen with stars Frances McDormand and Steve Buscemi to talk about the making of the iconic darkly comedic thriller. The festival is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Royal Tenenbaums, which will feature a live-streamed conversation between director Wes Anderson and members of the cast, including Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anjelica Huston and Danny Glover.
For the 30th anniversary of The Five Hearbeats, Robert Townsend, John Terrell, Tico Wells, Leon Robinson, James Hawthorne, Harry Lennix and Michael Wright will gather together and discuss the film’s legacy. And finally, in honor of the newly restored version of Raging Bull, Robert De Niro will join director Martin Scorsese for a pre-taped conversation. Tribeca will also be honoring the 100th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid, although there won’t be a cast reunion for that film.
“Each year the Tribeca Festival gathers the most esteemed names in film and entertainment for conversations that shine a light on the creative process,” said Co-Founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises and the Tribeca Festival, Jane Rosenthal. “This year we are particularly proud that we can once again convene these talented names for in-person conversations as we discuss new ways our world and business is being reshaped and reimagined.”
