Transgender Documentary ‘Transformer’ Bought by Gravitas

Gravitas Ventures has purchased the United States rights to Michael Del Monte’s documentary Transformer, which chronicles the experiences of Janae Kroczaleski, a trans woman and former US Marine. The documentary won the Rogers Award for best documentary at the Hot Docs International Film Festival, among other prizes.

Kroczaleski was a bodybuilder and a world-record powerlifter, and is a cancer survivor and a mother. The documentary follows her experience of coming out, medically transitioning, and raising her three teenage sons, as well as her fight to find an accepting place in society.

Transformer was produced by Tad Munnings and Paul Kemp of Storystream Creative. It is set to be released in theaters and on demand on October 19.
