Prix Productions Develops Buddy Holly Movie ‘Clear Lake’

Maria Elena Holly, widow of Buddy Holly, along with Rick French and Patrick Shanahan, are partnering to develop the Buddy Holly movie Clear Lake. French and Shanahan have teamed up under the name “Prix Productions.”

Holly was a bestselling musician, whose breakout 1957 hit “That’ll Be the Day” sold over a million records. Gary Busey was nominated for best actor for his role as Holly in the 1978 biopic The Buddy Holly Story. Clear Lake will follow the story of Holly and Clarence Collins’ – who founded Little Anthony & the Imperials – 1958 tour

Production on Clear Lake will begin in February of 2019, which coincides with the sixtieth anniversary of the death of Holly in Iowa – in the same plane crash that killed Ritchie Valens and JP Richardson.
