Say his name twice, and the trailer premieres. A new look at the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, aptly titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, has been released.
Michael Keaton returns as Beetlegeuse, a poltergeist with a mischievous attitude who uses a couple’s desperate attempt to reclaim their house as a means to achieve his own goals. Also returning are Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, alongside newcomers Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.
A plot synopsis from Revolver states, “After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.”
Iconic director Tim Burton comes back to helm the new film. Burton, outside of the first Beetlejuice, is responsible for other revered films such as Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, and the 1989 take on Batman, which saw Keaton star as the caped crusader.
Keaton is also set to appear in this year’s Knox Goes Away.
