Paramount’s first CG Transformers film, Transformers One has just released its first trailer for audiences. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer comes from the studio changing the film’s release date a week later than originally planned.
From this however came an event opportunity, as the trailer was the first ever in Hollywood to be launched and revealed in space, which was 125,000 above the Earth.
The film’s plot will highlight the origins of classic Transformer characters such as Optimus Prime and Megatron, showing how they and their friends first got their powers and how the two, who were like brothers, became sworn enemies.
Voicing these two characters will be Chris Hemsworth (Thor), who is playing a young Optimus Prime who was originally named Orion Pax, and Brian Tyree Henry (Bullet Train), who will be playing a young Megatron originally named D-16.
Other voice actors in the film will include Keegan-Michael Key (Key and Peele and The Super Mario Bros. Movie), Scarlett Johansson (Avengers), Steve Buscemi (Miracle Workers and Reservoir Dogs), John Hamm (Top Gun: Maverick and Mad Men) and Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix and John Wick 2).
Josh Cooley, who has worked on animated projects such as Toy Story 4, is directing the film from a script written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, both writers on Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Transformers One will be in theaters on September 20.
