Trailer for ‘The Current War’ with Michael Shannon

A new trailer for The Current War has just swept over the internet. As an amusing play on words, the title refers to two technological pioneers in the creation of electricity as we know it: George Westinghouse and (in)famous Thomas Edison. There will also be an appearance of Nikola Tesla, a lesser-known but still essential figure in the electrical field at the time.

The “current” inventors on the roster are: Michael Shannon (Midnight Special) as Westinghouse; Benedict Cumberbatch (August: Osage County) as Edison; and Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Tesla. They will be acting alongside massively talented supporting cast: Matthew Macfayden (Pride & Prejudice); Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them); Tuppence Middleton (The Imitation Game); and Tom Holland (Spider-Man Homecoming).

This electrifying historical drama will be directed by Alphonso Gomez-Rejon, known for shows like American Horror Story and movies like Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Michael Mitnick, known for Vinyl and The Giver, wrote the screenplay for the film. The Weinstein Company serves as the producer for the movie.

The trailer can be viewed below.

There are only a few months left until audiences can view the film, which will come out on November 24 of this year.
