If you’ve ever wanted to see Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) strangle his onscreen mom, I’ve got some fantastic news for you. Most Likely to Murder, a new film by Dan Gregor, features just that. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Rear Window-esque set-up without an unreliable witness, and it just so happens that the guy who sees the whole thing (Adam Pally) is completely wasted.
Pally’s character, Billy, was the cool kid in school. He returns to his hometown 15 years later to discover that the girl he likes (Rachel Bloom) is dating his weird neighbor, Lowell (Kartheiser). Billy gets drunk, Lowell’s mom is possibly murdered, and an amateur investigation follows. Hijinks ensue.
In an interview with EW, Bloom says, “It’s about people trying to start fresh. It’s about one person in the past who comes back into this town, is trying to drag everyone who’s moved on from him back to where he is. It’s weird because he’s the protagonist, but in many ways he’s the villain of the movie.”
