Not only did CinemaCon attendees get to watch a trailer for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere, they also got the chance to see a presentation from stars, Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong.
The Jeremys have been rocking the spotlight over the past few years. White, who plays Springsteen, stars in the 21-time Emmy-winning FX series, The Bear, while the Oscar-nominated Strong starred in HBO’s monster hit, Succession. Strong co-stars as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager and producer.
The Hollywood Reporter said the trailer got a “big response” from the audience, describing it as, “at times both contemplative and rousing.” The film portrays intimate flashbacks of Springsteen’s childhood as he struggles to find himself.
Adapted by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) from the 2023 book of the same name, the biopic focuses on the time around Springsteen’s 1982 album, Nebraska. In 1982, Rolling Stone considered the album “the bravest of Springsteen’s six records; it’s also his most startling, direct and chilling.”
On the CinemaCon stage, White expressed: “It’s the story of a very particular moment in Bruce’s life when he was trying to reconcile the pressure of success and the ghosts of his past.” The New Jersey native strongly approved of White’s portrayal of him.
Both Springsteen and Landau are involved in the project. 20th Century acquired the film in a “wild weekend of a bidding battle.” The film will include music from The River, Nebraska and Born in the USA.
