Chadwick Boseman leaves his kingdom in Wakanda and turns toward a new role as NYPD detective Andre Davis in the upcoming crime thriller 21 Bridges. The Russo brothers presented the trailer in Hall H Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con. In the thriller, Davis goes on a fast-paced manhunt for two individuals who killed policemen. The trailer shows the pair stealing drugs and shooting their way out of the building they leave from to escape the police. Throughout the hunt, Boseman consults another detective, who is played by J.K. Simmons. Boseman makes the drastic decision to close all 21 bridges that connect Manhattan to the other boroughs in an attempt to find the killers.
The film stars Sienna Miller, Stephan James, Keith David, Taylor Kitsch and J.K. Simmons. Brian Kirk, who has directed episodes from shows such as “Game of Thrones” and “The Tudors,” will be directing the film. Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Gigi Pritzker, Chadwick Boseman, and Logan Coles are set to produce.
Boseman won six awards for his performance as King T’Challa in Marvel’s Black Panther. He is also currently working on Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and Yasuke.
21 Bridges makes its theatrical debut on September 27. Watch the trailer below.
