After buildup from production information, a new look has finally been given for Marty Supreme. The first trailer for the film has been released, with Timothée Chalamet in the titular role.
Marty Supreme follows the life of Marty Mauser, played by Chalamet. Descriptions of the film are kept brief, stating that the film follows Mauser doing whatever he can to chase his passions, even with no one believing in him.
The trailer reveals the nature of the plot to audiences, showing that the story revolves around ping pong. Early reports even indicate that the film is loosely based on Marty Reisman, a popular figure from the table tennis world. He wound up winning several bronze medals in the sport, and stayed an active figure in the sport until he died at 82.
On top of Chalamet in the lead role, the cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher. Producers include Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas. Bronstein and Safdie are also penning the screenplay.
On top of producing and writing, Safdie is also at the helm of Marty Supreme as director. Safdie is usually paired with his younger brother Benny Safdie. Together, the two worked on acclaimed titles like Uncut Gems, Good Time, Heaven Knows What, and many others.
Marty Supreme hits theaters this Christmas. Check out the trailer below.
