Near the release of F1: The Movie, which released in theaters this past weekend, the film’s director, Joseph Kosinski, who also previously directed Top Gun: Maverick, spoke with Collider on his next project, an sci-fi alien thriller. The film will center around UAPs (also known as UFOs).
The film will reunite Kosinski with Top Gun: Maverick and F1 producer Jerry Bruckheimer and with Apple Studios, who handled F1‘s production. Kosinski discussed this in the interview, citing it as one of the main reasons he took on the project, saying: “It’s an opportunity to work with Jerry Bruckheimer again, and Apple, which has been incredible.”
Kosinski also spoke more on the project:
“The subject itself is fascinating. We’re working with some people that are very close to that world that have given us some incredible insight into the topic and what’s going on. We’re working on it right now, and it is fascinating. It’s one of those things I think everyone in the world is going to want to know more about. I’m very excited about the possibilities and, again, how we’re going to capture the world of it, of that topic. I’m very excited.”
This new film will apparently be a Sci-fi conspiracy thriller, centered around two men who discover a massive conspiracy within the national security agency they work for to recover conceal, and reconfigure alien technology from a crashed alien spaceship. The film is set to be written by Zach Baylin, who wrote last year’s The Order, and who received an Oscar nomination for his first screenplay, 2021’s King Richard.
No other news about Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi thriller, such as casting or a release date, is currently known at this time.
