Tony Winner Alex Sharp Joins ‘Nasty Women’

According to Deadline, Alex Sharp has joined the cast of Nasty Women, which stars Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Colossal) and Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect franchise). The English actor originated the role of Christopher Boone in the Broadway production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, for which he took home the Tony for Best Actor in a Play in 2015.

The new MGM comedy is a remake of its 1988 Dirty Rotten Scoundrels which starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin. Chris Addison (HBO’s Veep) makes his feature film directorial debut, helming from a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer (TiMER). Sharp will play Thomas, a young tech billionaire who becomes the subject of a wager between two con women (Hathway and Wilson). The two compete to swindle Thomas out of his fortune. Producers are Cave 76’s Roger Birnbaum and Wilson’s Camp Sugar. Executive producers are Ilona Herzberg and Alison Owen.

Sharp most recently starred in Marti Noxon’s To The Bone with Lily Collins and Keanu Reeves. He recently completed How To Talk To Girls At Parties starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning; the film bowed at Cannes. He has upcoming roles in Brett Simon’s action comedy Monumental and Ryan Eslinger’s drama UFO.

Nasty Women is set to begin production next month in London.
