According to Variety, news has been released that Walton Goggins is in final negotiations to star in Warner Bros, MGM and GK Films Tomb Raider reboot as the film’s central villain.
This adaptation of the hit 1996 video games stars Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) as the adventurous archaeologist Lara Croft, a role previously played by Angelina Jolie in the first screen Tomb Raider iteration, both of which were released by Pamount. The film has also been given a release date of March 16, 2018, and comes from Norwegian director Roar Uthaug (The Wave). MGM joined the project in 2013 acquiring rights to the popular video game, creating a partnership with Graham King’s GK Film in order to develop a new feature.
Goggins has repeatedly come up in conversation this year, having success in both film and television. He can be seen on TV with his HBO series Vice Principals which was just renewed for a second season and, most recently on film, in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. He will next be seen on screen in The Three Christs of Ypsilanti.
