With Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Homecoming less than a month away, webs are already being woven for the friendly neighborhood hero’s future adventures.
Spidey has already been confirmed to appear in the monumental Avengers: Infinity War films and a release date has already been given to the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, due July 5, 2019, but now star Tom Holland has confirmed in an interview with AlloCiné that Marvel has bigger plans for the web slinger beyond Infinity War.
There will be a Spider-Man 2 and 3… Yeah, well now you know, sorry Marvel. Whoops!
Holland further details, “Yes, there is what we call the arc of the character. There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man, especially, to grow in the next two movies. He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and… go through puberty I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies.”
In the first of this now confirmed trilogy, directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), a young Peter Parker begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero and “Stark Industries intern”. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home to his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will crawl its way onto the silver screen on July 7.
