It was certainly a summer to remember for Tom Holland, who starred in the two biggest blockbusters with The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In a deal focused on back end box office participation, Holland will earn upwards of 9 figures for the latest MCU installment.
The contract Holland signed earned him $20 million upfront, but the explosion at the box office courtesy of his latest appearance as the web crawler will reportedly add another $80 million to that number. At this time, the film has brought in just over $2 billion worldwide, parking it at number 8 all time at the worldwide box office. It trails fellow MCU film Avengers: Endgame as the quickest film to join the $2 billion club.
The Wrap reported on the major upward trajectory of Holland’s value since joining the MCU, depicting his rise to A-List status in Hollywood. For his debut outing in Captain America: Civil War, Holland earned $250,000. Spider-Man: Homecoming earned him $500,000, Spider-Man: Far From Home earned him $4,000,000, and Spider-Man: No Way Home earned him $10,000,000. With this year marking Holland’s 10 year anniversary since joining the MCU, it was reported that his previous deal expired prior to him starring in Brand New Day.
Not only did Tom Holland star in both of this summer’s biggest blockbusters, his now wife Zendaya also starred in both films. The couple married earlier this year. Holland’s next appearance in the MCU is not confirmed, but it would be a shock to many if he did not appear in either of Avengers: Doomsday later this year, or Avengers: Secret Wars the following year.
