Tom Hardy Starring in ‘The Raid’ Director Gareth Evans’ Next Film with Netflix, ‘Havoc’

Gareth Evans, the director of the acclaimed Indonesian action film The Raid: Redemption and its sequel The Raid 2: Berendal, has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix to produce and direct films, the first of which being his action-thriller Havoc which will star Tom Hardy. Evans will write and direct the film, as well as produce the film for One More One Productions alongside Hardy and Ed Talfan for Severn Screen and Aram Tertzakian for XYZ films.

The film follows a bruised detective after a drug deal gone wrong who must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue the estranged son of a politician. The detective’s action-packed journey unravels a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that takes hold of his entire city.

Evans’ last film, the 2018 folk-horror-thriller Apostle, was also through Netflix. Evans also recently co-created the TV series Gangs of London for Sky Atlantic and AMC, which debuted in the UK in April 2020 followed by a U.S. release in October.

This will be the first collaboration between Evans and Hardy, but the team-up seems fitting. While not all of Hardy’s films have been action-packed, he’s been in quite a few projects with high-octane thrills, including Mad Max: Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Revenant.

There’s currently no set release date or window for Havoc, but when it inevitably hits the streamer we can expect a visceral and tense action spectacle
