Tom Hanks’ Sci-Fi Pic ‘Bios’ Postponed To Spring 2021

Warner Bros. recently booted upcoming sci-fi feature Bios off its October 2, 2020 release date to create spot for Wonder Woman 1984The Universal/Amblin Entertainment project will now release on April 16, 2021, a date that the studio had kept on hold for an untitled event movie. Its departure leaves Paramount’s Tom Clancy movie Without Remorse next to the Wonder Woman sequel.

Bios is directed by Miguel Sapochnik, whose notable credits extend to Game of Thrones and True Detective and stars Tom Hanks alongside Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing) and Samira Wiley, who earned an Emmy for her work in Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale. The original screenplay was adapted by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell. Robert Zemeckis and Kevin Misher are producing through their ImageMovers banner.

Bios tells the story of Finch (Hanks), a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that has left the world a wasteland. Finch has been living in an underground bunker for decade with his beloved dog, Goodyear, but has become terminally ill and is determined to make sure his canine companion will be cared for after he is gone. With no time to spare, he creates a robot named Jeff (Landry Jones) to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can. As the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his new creation the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive. He must to teach Jeff to become human enough to take care of Goodyear, while Goodyear must learn to adapt to the new world and trust his new master.

Alongside Bios will be another release of a sci-fi movie on that date: Reminiscence, directed by Lisa Joy and stars Hugh Jackman, Thandie Newton and Rebecca Ferguson.
