Tom Cruise To Team Up With Elon Musks To Shoot a Film In Space

The sky’s the limit, but Tom Cruise plans to soar beyond the sky. The 57 year old film icon is reportedly working with NASA and Elon Musk‘s Space X on a project that would be the first narrative feature film to be shot in space.

This currently untitled film will be an action-adventure, which comes to no surprise given Cruise’s high profile success in numerous action film franchises, most notably the Mission: Impossible series. Although no studio has been attached to produce yet, the feature is real, it is happening, and it is reportedly in the “early stages of liftoff.” Though details about Cruise’s big space odyssey still remain scarce, the feature will not be part of the Mission: Impossible series.

Cruise is most notable for constantly putting himself at risk as a leading man in the most realistic, often death-defying action sequences. For example, in Mission: Impossible Fallout, Cruise actually broke his ankle in a leap from one rooftop to the other in mid-scene and he also hung from a helicopter. Similarly, he hung from the side of a jet plane during takeoff in Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. In Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol he scaled the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai skyscraper, and executed stunts 123 floors up. Cruise is meticulous in preparing these stunts, which are frightening just to watch.

Shooting in space is no easy feat, but if any Hollywood figure had to do it, it should be Cruise. And if he is successful in shooting the project in Musk’s spacecraft, he will be making a giant leap in mankind for Hollywood movies.
