One of the major upcoming family films Warner Brothers plans to release is a live-action/animated hybrid of the iconic cartoon duo Tom and Jerry. The film will be directed by Tim Story and feature Chloe Grace Moretz in the leading role alongside the famous cat and mouse. The film was initially set for released on April 2021 release but now Tom and Jerry has been pushed forward to a Holiday release date in 2020.
Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry have been around since the 1940s and have remained very popular due to their simple, yet classic slapstick comedy scenarios. This is not the first motion picture appearance of Tom and Jerry, however, as they first received an animated musical film in 1993 simply titled Tom and Jerry the Movie. The film, unfortunately, performed rather poorly with critics and audiences and there has not been a major theatrical film based around the characters since. Now, with the help of Warner Brothers Animation group, this new film could be a golden opportunity to bring Tom and Jerry back into the limelight. Long time fans of the cat and mouse duo’s ongoing rivalry will witness a potentially good chase next Christmas season.
Tom and Jerry is set for release on December 23rd 2019.
