Toho Gives November 6th Release Date To ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’

The king of the monsters is preparing to stomp onto the big screen once again. After receiving an official announcement in November, the latest Godzilla movie from Toho, Godzilla Minus Zero, has set a release date for US theaters on November 6th of this year.

Godzilla Minus One took the iconic monster back to his roots, setting the story in Japan, still trying to recover from World War II. As one soldier from the Japanese military works to rebuild his life and overcome his demons, Godzilla appears and lays waste to Ginza, resulting in a desperate race against time to stop him before everything they’ve worked to regain is destroyed.

It’s not selling it short to say that Minus One was a major milestone for the Big G. Upon release in late 2023, the film made waves both financially and critically, breaking numerous box office records while maintaining an overwhelmingly positive word of mouth from audiences, critics, and fans alike. It would even go on to win Godzilla his first Oscar, as the film took home the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Hollywood Reporter noted that there are no current details on who will appear in the film, although Takashi Yamazaki will return for Minus Zero after pulling triple duty on Minus One as writer, director, and VFX supervisor. At this stage, there’s also very little known about the plot of the film, or whether it’ll elaborate on some of the loose ends from Minus One. However, fans will remember that Toho does tend to keep a lid on the finer details of their Godzilla films right up until they hit theaters. Both Minus One and 2016’s Shin Godzilla kept things under wraps when it came to the story itself, as well as the new details surrounding the lore of Godzilla himself.

Godzilla: Minus Zero hits theaters on November 6th.
