Director Todd Phillips recently expressed interest in seeing Batman appear in his version of the Joker he developed. While Phillips’ Joker is not part of Warner Bros’ DCEU, the director has been intrigued about how a Batman film would turn out under his watch according to MovieWeb.
As previously reported last year, Joker would not tie into the upcoming Matt Reeves film The Batman, which has Robert Pattinson set to star as the Dark Knight. Phillips made it known when asked about the inclusion of the character and whether or not he would take on the challenge of including Batman in future projects. “It’s a beautiful Gotham. What I would like to see someone tackle is what Batman looks like from that Gotham,” Phillips replied, “I’m not saying I’m going to do that. What was interesting to me about the inclusion of Batman in our movie was, ‘What kind of Batman does that Gotham make?’ That’s all I meant by that.”
Since the release and the wide acclaim of Joker, it’s been speculated that Warner Bros would develop future films about Batman villains in the same vein as Phillips. A Penguin and Riddler standalone film are rumored to be the next projects to enter production.
