Timothée Chalamet Jokes About Musical Cinematic Universe; Proposes Austin Butler Returning As Elvis

Timothée Chalamet half-jokingly considered working with Austin Butler on a Musical Cinematic Universe. During an interview with NME promoting Dune: Part Two, he proposed Butler making a cameo as Elvis Presley in Chalamet’s upcoming Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown.

Butler complimented Chalamet about his work in the future biopic and expressed his wish to be “on set every day to just watch the magic happen.” In response, Chalamet said Butler could appear as Elvis since the King of Rock made a quick cameo in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line. “It’s really brief, it’s very brief, but I was kind of wishing we could create a musical cinematic universe,” Chalamet said.

Even though this was meant to be a light joke, Chalamet explained that he would let the film play out before going down this rabbit hole. He admitted to “picking Austin’s brain non-stop” about his performance as Elvis and is eager to work with him more in the future. Chalamet explained, ”I can’t speak from Elvis’ perspective, but deep in the Bob Dylan lore now, he had tremendous respect for Elvis and Sun Records.“

Directed by James Mangold, A Complete Unknown was announced in early 2020 and currently does not have an official release date.
