Timothée Chalamet Joins Wes Anderson’s New Film ‘The French Dispatch’

Director of the creative and critical hits Fantastic Mr. Fox, Isle Of Dogs, and The Grand Budapest Hotel is helming a new film, The French Dispatch. Despite the rumors starting in the summer that the film would be a musical, IndieWire confirmed that this is not the case. Although disappointing for some, IndieWire also disclosed that the plot of the film will be centered around three story lines and is loving homage to journalists that have been set at an outpost of of an American newspaper in 20th century Paris. IndieWire revealed that the movie started shooting in Southwestern France a week ago and that despite Wes Anderson living in Paris, it will be his first film that will be set in the famed City of Lights.

The movie features a stellar top notch cast featuring Bill Murray (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou), Frances McDormand (Moonrise Kingdom), Tilda Swinton (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale) and the recently announced Benicio Del Toro (Sicario) and Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name). While this cast is extremely exciting, there have been some rumors about even more exciting additions, including Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds), Natalie Portman (Garden State) and Léa Seydoux (The Lobster). When taken into account that all three of these actors have had a part in three separate Wes Anderson movies, it feels very likely that they could make an appearance.

The film has only just began production but the numerous exciting prospects are nothing short of promising. Although a fully fledged musical by Anderson, most likely similar to that of Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, would have been amazing, Anderson holds a pedigree of consistently creating fantastic films. He has always been able to provide a colorful, creative and lovingly made experience that has been nothing short of memorable, with his next film hopefully being able to surpass the highest of expectations.

Keidan Chavez: I am an undergraduate attending Whittier College majoring in screen writing and journalism. I love to watch movies, play Red Dead Redemption 2 and read whenever I get the chance. I will watch anything related to Wright, Tarantino, The Coen Brothers or Nolan. I will also play anything made by Naughty Dog or Rockstar Games. I love being able to experience great stories, especially when I am able to share that experience with others. I also love learning about movies and sharing that knowledge to those that are just as passionate.
