

Recently acclaimed newcomer Timothée Chalamet has just been nominated for his second Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of infamous folk singer-songwriter Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. The film chronicles nineteen-year-old rising star Bob Dylan beginning in New York building over the course of his first five years when he controversially began to use electric instruments at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. In a recent NPR interview, Chalamet referenced to have methodically gained twenty pounds to play the famed musician. Chalamet is quoted as stating,
“I turned over every stone. I did all the work, like you just described, physicality, behavior-wise. I also put on 20 pounds because, believe it or not, I was thinner than the guy.” Read the full interview here.
As Chalamet gained recognition for his role in the queer romance film Call Me By Your Name, which was his first Academy Award Nomination, he has taken on new stardom becoming featured in big-budget productions such as Dune and Wonka. A Complete Unknown has been nominated for eight Oscars including Best Picture. It was also nominated for three Golden Globes, also including Best Picture. Chalamet has also broken a box office record grossing over $200 million in eight months previously contended by actor John Travolta for acting in both Grease and Saturday Night Fever during the mid-1970s.
