Tiffany Haddish and Oscar-nominated LaKeith Stanfield are currently in negotiations to feature in Disney’s remake of The Haunted Mansion, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Haddish and LaKeith will be the first actors to join the spooky remake if the negotiations go through.
The director behind the Netflix series Dear White People and horror film Bad Hair Justin Simien, is set to direct the upcoming remake.
The specifics of what the remake will be about are being kept on the down-low.
Disneyland park visitors will know the popular Haunted Mansion ride, which made its first appearance at Anaheim’s Disneyland in 1969. In 2003, Eddie Murphy’s comedy The Haunted Mansion used the ride as inspiration.
Fun fact: The Haunted Mansion is the only attraction at Disneyland in which employees were actually encouraged not to smile. Smiling all day long can sure be exhausting.
The last film that Stanfield was in was Judas and the Black Messiah as Bill O’Neal. Stanfield’s next film will be the western The Harder They Fall.
News broke recently that Haddish is set to star in The Card Counter alongside Oscar Isaac, Willem Dafoe, and Tye Sheridan. She is also set to star in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent with Nicolas Cage.
