Another week, another trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. This week, after the official reveal that Chris Evans is returning as Steve Rogers in the film, a new trailer is showing in theaters ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
This new trailer, as the rumors suggested, centers on Thor. Chris Hemsworth’s return as Thor is no surprise, as it was revealed when Marvel made their cast announcement livestream on YouTube. The real surprise is that Thor’s adopted daughter, Love, is returning with him.
ScreenRant notes the trailer shows Thor alone in the woods, on his knees with his weapon Stormbreaker, praying to Odin to make a safe return to Love. During the voiceover, Love is seen receiving a kiss on the forehead from Thor, as he prays for strength to fight a new evil. Then, Thor is seen heading into a large battle.
There are apparently two more Doomsday trailers to be released after this one. According to those earlier rumors, the next one will follow Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, and the final one will be a full teaser delving into the film’s story.
As of right now, it is unclear whether Hemsworth will return in Avengers: Secret Wars, as he has been playing the character since 2011. Filming for that film begins in the summer of 2026. ScreenRant notes there is no word on a fifth Thor film and suggests Doomsday may be his last Marvel film.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
