By most metrics, $400M is a critical success; however, this weekend marks a significant plunge in attendance for Marvel movies specifically. Viewership for the studio’s projects has taken a severe downturn, with Thor: Love and Thunder having dropped almost %80, on par with Black Widow at %79. Marvel movies are often hit or miss with critics, but what keeps driving Disney to make them is their profitability and box office dominance. This puts Disney in a very difficult position, the company keeps focusing on streaming content at a time when audiences are returning to cinemas.
