Thomas Sadoski Boards ‘The Last Word’

Thomas Sadoski (HBO’s The Newsroom) has joined The Last Word, comedy-drama starring Academy Award winner Shirley MacLaine (Elsa & Fred) and Amanda Seyfried (While We’re Young). Anne Heche (Wild Card) is also in the cast.

Directed by Mark Pellington (The Mothman Prophecies) from Stuart Ross Fink’s script (in his screenplay debut), the story follows Harriet Lawler (MacLaine), a retired businesswoman and micromanager who wants to make sure her obituary is written her way. Assigned to the task, Seyfried’s journalist Anne Sherman turns from Harriet’s pre-packaged assignment and instead wants to find out the real truth about Harriet’s life. In the journey of examining Harriet’s life more closely, the two women become unlikely friends as Harriet re-discovers and reconnects to her life passions. Sadoski will play a local radio DJ who becomes a love interest for Anne.

Myriad Pictures will finance and will handle international sales. The project will be produced by Pellington, Anne-Marie MacKay of Wondros and Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico. Aaron Magnani is executive producer. Bleecker Street will distribute in the U.S.

Sadoski currently stars on CBS’ Life in Pieces, which debuted in September. He played Don Keefer on HBO’s acclaimed series The Newsroom. On the big screen, he appeared in Jean-Marc Vallée’s Wild, which was nominated for two Oscars last year, and Adam Salky’s I Smile Back with Sarah Silverman (A Million Ways to Die in the West). He will be seen next in Chad Stahelski’s John Wick: Chapter Two starring Keanu Reeves, which is now in post-production and is slated to open on February 10, 2017.
