Martin Scorsese’s directed feature, The Wolf of Wall Street, will be available to stream on Disney+ on April 1st. This is surprising due to Disney+ catering to mostly children. Jordan Belfort, whom the film is based on, recently commented on this by tweeting on X,
When you tell your kid to go to bed and they reply, ‘I’m not fucking leaving!’ You can thank Disney.
Belfort is referencing how The Wolf of Wall Street was notorious for holding the Guinness World Record of most ‘fucks’ used in its runtime, being a total of 569 times.
Even though it my be surprising how a raunchy adult crime epic can hold a place on Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ also features Family Guy, The Simpsons, and the Deadpool movies, which are available to watch.
Scorsese’s adaptation of The Wolf of Wall Street made Belfort’s original memoir of the same name more popular; the film does show the downfall of its power addicted character. Belfort has also been quoted saying how the film’s depiction of his downfall is surprisingly accurate, and he is noted to have always been supportive of the film. The movie came out twelve years ago, and it strikes up a conversation whenever the real Jordan Belfort is commenting on its legacy. Nevertheless, Belfort’s quote shows how parents will have to be on the lookout on what their kids will be browsing on Disney+.
