The Star-Studded ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ Receives Fall Release Date

From Martin McDonagh, the filmmaker behind In Bruges with a special penchant for gritty comedy, comes Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The film stars Frances McDormand in a fiery role looking to trump her Oscar-winning performance in Fargo. Fox Searchlight has set an awards-friendly release date for the film on October 13.

Three Billboards follows Mildred Hayes, a woman reeling from the recent murder of her daughter. After the local police enforcement, headed by Sheriff Bill Willoughby (Woody Harrelson), fails to find the culprit and continue the search, Mildred places three billboards outside the entrance of their town Ebbing, Missouri, that sends an inflammatory message to the otherwise revered Chief of Police and shakes up the small town. When Willoughby’s second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), a wild card mama’s boy, gets involved, the tension mounts between Mildred and the local law enforcement.

The film also stars John Hawkes (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Peter Dinklage (HBO’s Game of Thrones),  Abbie Cornish (Limitless), Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out), recent Oscar-nominee Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea), and Kathryn Newton (HBO’s Big Little Lies).
