‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Star Wars’ Cross Over in Upcoming “May the Fourth” Short-Film

Disney+’s ‘May the Fourth’ celebration just got a little more full with the announcement of a The Simpsons and Star Wars crossover short film titled: “The Force Awakens From it’s Nap.” Many may remember that The Simpsons have done Star Wars parodies several times throughout their 32 season run. However, this will be the first official crossover between the two properties, as Disney now holds the rights to both.

Disney’s synopsis of the short places Maggie Simpson on an adventure to find her stolen pacifier. On her quest, she encounters droids, padawans, sith lords, and many familiar favorites, all in a celebration of the Star Wars galaxy.

The poster for the short, which was released earlier today, is a visual parallel to the original poster art of 1977’s Star Wars. That is not to say that only the original trilogy is being parodied, as Maggie’s enemy; Baby Gerald is drawn as Darth Maul. BB-8 also makes an appearance alongside Maggie, bringing all three generations of Star Wars together.

“The Force Awakens From it’s Nap,” drops on Disney+ May 4th at 12:00 AM PT. The film will be part of the platform’s Star Wars Day 2021 celebration, releasing alongside Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Biomes, and Star Wars: Vehicle Flythroughs.
