‘The Rider’ Director, Chloe Zhao, takes on ‘The Eternals’

Chloe Zhao is hanging up her riding reigns to take on Marvel comic centered around the super-powered, godly beings known as The Celestials and their villainous adversaries the Deviants in a million-years-old war.

Zhao is best known for her recent work in directing last year’s independent film, The Rider, which won the C.I.C.A.E Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Now she is teaming with Kevin Feige who will be producing with Matthew and Ryan Firpo’s screenplay.

The Eternals debuted as a comic in July, 1976, and Zhao is continuing Feige’s tradition of taking independent filmmakers for specific comic book IP’s that match the director’s storytelling talents.

Zhao is also only the second female director to helm a Marvel movie behind Anna Boden who co-directed Captain Marvel with Ryan Fleck.

No time frame or hint of who will be starring in the Marvel film has emerged yet, but more details will come sooner than later. Stay tuned.
