Daniel and Michael Philippou gained much recognition after releasing their Australian horror picture, Talk To Me. Formerly known by their YouTube account, RackaRacka, the success of Talk To Me landed the two brothers in talks for an adaptation of the video game franchise, Street Fighter. However, they recently left the project following scheduling conflicts.
Following this abandonment, the YouTube duo is currently making another horror film titled, Bring Her Back. Michael Phillippou was recently interviewed and talked about their next horror project and their Street Fighter scrapping as follows,
“We were developing big IP, it wasn’t horror, but Street Fighter, and we were actually really excited for that. It was a lot of fun, but just finding the time for it, it just didn’t line up properly for us, and so we decided to focus on the original stuff.”
Daniel Philippou was quoted by stating why they scrapped the Street Fighter project by saying,
“The IP stuff I would usually stay away from, not because I don’t want to do it but because I don’t want to fuck it up…there’s things with such big, in-built audiences, I’d hate to let a whole bunch of people down,”
Bring Her Back will be uniting the brothers again with another A24 horror movie, and A24 recently cut a deal to make a Talk To Me 2.
