The long awaited fourth installment to Stephen Sommer’s action flick The Mummy continues to see new updates as production draws closer. With a completed script, main lead Brandan Fraser has been able to share his thoughts on the content he’ll be bringing to life in The Mummy 4.
Released in 1999, The Mummy was a new imagining of the titular Universal monster blended with Egyptian mythology. When adventurer Rick O’Connell, played by Fraser, discovers the location of an ancient Egyptian city, he leads a team of Egyptologists to the location, only to discover a thousand year old curse has reawoken to wreak havoc upon the Earth.
Fraser, who recently made a major comeback in Hollywood after winning Best Actor for The Whale, starred in both sequels The Mummy would receive. Since the latest entry released in 2008, Fraser has always been very vocal about wanting to return to a fourth film, and his excitement carried over in the times he’s answered questions about it following official confirmation.
As Screenrant notes, the next installment already secured a director team with Matt Bettinelli-Olphin and Tyler Gillett, and has a completed script that’s already been read by Fraser. When he was prompted about it recently, Fraser was straight to the point in his answer when asked about it.
“Ask one-cough-yes, two-coughs-no questions, dude. Come on! Yeah, I read it. [Coughs once] Is it good? [Coughs twice] Yes, it is! Yes. Yes,” Fraser told Collider.
