The Multi-Talented William H. Macy

Actor William H. Macy is currently starring in the sixth season of the hit Showtime series Shameless. He has a Screen Actors Guild Award and received two Primetime Emmy nominations for playing the degenerate father Frank Gallagher on the show.

Macy has been acting in film and television for nearly 40 years. He is known for playing a diverse range of characters in many critically acclaimed films. Macy has been recognized on several occasions for his outstanding performances over the years including an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Fargo (1996).

Many people are unaware that Macy is also an award winning writer and director. In 2003, he won two Golden Globes for co-writing and starring in the television drama Door to Door, which is based on the true story of Bill Porter a door-to-door salesman in Portland, Oregon, born with cerebral palsy.

Macy made his directorial debut in 2014 with the musical drama Rudderless starring Billy Crudup (Watchmen) and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek). The film follows a grieving father (Crudup) who stumbles across a box of his deceased son’s original music and forms band in hopes of finding peace. Rudderless premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was well received among audiences.

Macy is currently in production on his second feature film, which is a female buddy comedy called The Layover. The film stars Kate Upton (The Other Woman) and Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas) who play best friends that find themselves competing for the same guy during an extended layover in St. Louis.

There is no denying that William H. Macy has incredible range as an actor. Fans can watch his award winning performance on Shameless currently airing now on Showtime. It will be interesting to see how he uses his comedic talents to direct a much different genre than his last film. The Layover is scheduled for a tentative release later this year. His first feature Rudderless is available to watch everywhere on-demand.
