The 41st Moscow International Film Festival announced the competitors that will be participating in their annual event. For the main category, these include Rasoul Sadrameli’s My Second Year in College, Bangladeshi film director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Saturday Afternoon, My Polish Honeymoon by France’s Elise Otzenberger, Dāvis Sīmanis’ The Mover, and Zhang Chi’s first feature film, In Search of Echo. Many of these films involved production collaborations between countries such as Bangladesh, Germany, and Russia. These projects, in particular, will be vying for the Golden St. George, the main award given at the Festival.
The documentary category will include films such as independent film director Olga Lvoff’s Busy Inside, Danish director Carl Olsson’s Patrimonium, Gabe Polsky’s In Search of Greatness, and Sidse Torstholm Larsen’s and Sturla Pilskog’s Winter’s Yearning. The short film category will consist of 15 films from countries such as Syria, Greece, and Brazil.
Along with films, the festival will be recognizing the rising popularity of television series by showing the most recent series from Russia and other countries. The festival will also show Marvel’s highly anticipated Avengers: Endgame ahead of its official global release. The event will take place from April 18-25 and will be housed in the Rossiya Cinema Theater.
