Vin Diesel’s upcoming supernatural action film, The Last Witch Hunter from Summit Entertainment, has moved forward since bringing Oscar nominee Melisa Wallack on to polish the script. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rose Leslie (Ygritte on HBO’s Game of Thrones) has joined the cast as one of the witches Vin Diesel must hunt. Breck Eisner and Bernie Goldman are still attached to direct and produce respectively.
Set in modern day New York, the titular witch hunter (Diesel) investigates paranormal events to protect the common citizens. He will have to team up with one of his sworn foes (Leslie) in order to confront a far more powerful witch queen.
Vin Diesel is widely known for his starring roles in the Fast and Furious and Riddick franchises. His star-vehicles have received very mixed receptions so hopefully The Last Witch Hunter rise above that standard. Diesel has appeared in more critically acclaimed films such as Saving Private Ryan and The Iron Giant and lent his voice to Guardians of the Galaxy as Groot.
Rose Leslie appeared in a few episodes of BBC series Downton Abbey as well as Game of Thrones and recently finished shooting the indie film, Sticky Notes.
