‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Adds ‘Game of Thrones’ Actress Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer is best know for her role as Margaery Tyrell on HBO’s Game of Thrones, but it’s been announced that she will play at another game as well. The actress has been added as the newest cast member of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2. Dormer will play the role of Cressida, a member of the rebellion in the book Mockingjay (which will appear on-screen in the aforementioned two parts). Dormer will join existing cast members Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Julianne Moore in the third and fourth films in the franchise.

Dormer is still looking to capitalize on the success of Game of Thrones in other venues, and Mockingjay will almost certainly be a major step forward in that regard. Dormer has minor supporting roles in the upcoming Ron Howard film Rush and the Ridley Scott-directed The Counselor, and is currently shooting a central part in the British collegiate drama Posh. Fellow Thrones star Kit Harrington is making a similar attempt to parlay small screen popularity into big-screen success with a leading role in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii, the teaser trailer for which just released yesterday.

Francis Lawrence, who directed The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (due out November 22), will also take the helm for Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2. Mockingjay Part 1 is expected to release November 21, 2014, while Part 2 is slated for November 20th of the following year.

Pompeii, starring Harrington, Emily Browning, Paz Vega, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Kiefer Sutherland, is due out next February the 21st.
